Hi everyone, I’m Christan Long!
I am an adventure traveler who grew up as a part of The Long Family of Gorge River. We are the most isolated family in New Zealand. We live 2 days walk from the nearest road on the South Island West Coast, between Haast and Milford Sound.
In this video, I will show you why I love my possum fur hat. It protects me from frostbite.
Got a cold head? These hats are one of the best ways to protect from frostbite in all the wild cold places that I explore.

Today I’m out dog sledding and I am super happy to be wearing my nice warm possum aviator hat. It’s about negative five degrees and really windy today.
There’s snow falling down from all over the trees that we are hitting. I am really glad that I’m wearing this hat.
These possum fur hats are designed by my family and made by either my mum or myself. Most of the hats that I’ve sold have actually gone to people working in the Antarctic or the Arctic. It’s because they’re one of the warmest hats that you will find.
