AUS ALERT
On Monday, every mobile device across Australia will make a loud sound and receive an alert! That's because the government is testing a new national emergency warning system. Which will let authorities send safety info or alerts during things like natural disasters or health emergencies. A siren and a notification like this will pop up on your device at these times, depending on where you are. The siren will go for 10 seconds and you wont be able to turn it off. It might look different depending on the device but you don't need to do anything when you get it. This ones is just a test. States and territories currently run their own alert systems. But, authorities say people don't always receive these alerts on time. Aus alert will use cell broadcast technology which sends messages through mobile phone towers to every device in a specific area. Experts say it will reach more people, faster. The reason why the government wants to release a national alert system is in response to a disaster Australia faced about six years ago. The Black Summer Bushfires left more than three thousand Aussie homes destroyed and lots of people said they didn't get emergency warnings on time. Now, some people are concerned it won't work on older phones running older software, or ones connected to satellite and landlines. But the government is keen to get Aus alert up and working by October.
COMMONWEALTH GAMES OPENING
This year's Commonwealth Games are officially underway! It's a bit like the Olympics, but only for countries that are part of the Commonwealth, including Australia. In fact, Victoria was originally meant to host this one. But the Victorian government pulled out back in 2023, saying it was gonna be too expensive. So Glasgow jumped in to host instead, and they've stripped things back a bit with only 10 games, but that didn't stop them from putting on a pretty neat opening ceremony which saw Aussie athletes take the stage, as well as the King and Queen, who emerged from Doctor Who's time machine, the TARDIS.

The San Diego Comic Con has just kicked off, with thousands of people from all over world rocking up. There's only one place you'll see the Avengers, Mario, and a talking disco ball-head thing in the same place. No, it's not Halloween. It's Comic Con! The San Diego Comic Con is one of the largest pop-culture conventions in the world. Originally it started as a true comic book convention back in the 1970s. But over the years has evolved more into a space for fans to dress up as their fav charcters from other types of media too, and for actors and Hollywood producers to promote new movies. During the event people can attend panels, play games and get unique collectibles. And this year more than 135,000 fans are expected to walk through the doors. But for many Comic Con is as big as it gets.

First up to PAWmicon 2026! Because who says humans should have all the fun at comic-con? Held at San Diego's Balboa Park! More than 500 people and their furry friends got together to celebrate rescue pets and compete for the best dressed pooch! I honestly couldn't pick! They're all PAW-fect!
HOT AIR BALLOON BIKE
Next up to Bulgaria where Elias Schwarzler from Austria has just become the first person to ride off a hot air balloon on his bike! 950 metres high by the way! The stunt is considered the first of its kind, combining 3 different extreme sports, mountain biking, ballooning, and base jumping. Lucky for Elias, he landed safely, but I can't say the same for his bike.
