It’s super not hard to just look at animals and be like, ‘ah, you have your own life and interests and I don’t have a right to work against those best interests’. It’s so weird how we’re taught to be respectful and compassionate towards other animals, but then we have to bend what respect and compassion even means in order to attempt to rationalise behaviour that clearly entails horrific outcomes for other animals.
