President Donald Trump's mail-in voting executive order faced multiple hurdles through legal challenges. However, a whistleblower statement released by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., on Tuesday revealed flaws in the new system.
The whistleblower's statement said the system could hurt the mail-in voting process relied on by one-third of all voters. The whistleblower, who remains anonymous, claims that the Postal Service is rushing to create a complex system in time for the 2026 midterm elections.
Their system is set up to fail – and risk the right to vote for millions of Americans who cast their ballots by mail," Blumenthal said in a written statement. "Given this new information, such sloppiness and haste seems clearly part of a purposeful attempt to create chaos and prevent people from voting. I am demanding answers and accountability.
