A growing trade dispute between the United States and Canada could have ripple effects in Montana, where Canada is the state’s largest international export market.

Canada has announced plans to respond with retaliatory tariffs targeting American dairy, agricultural equipment, steel, appliances, paper products and electronics. Canada is expected to release the final list of affected products before the measures take effect.

For Montana, the concern is not just what is on the list now — but what could be added later.
