We believe there is no 'right' way to beat a horse with a whip.
It is clear to see the racing industry doesn't even take their own whip regulations seriously.
"In a race... a rider must not use his or her whip in an excessive, unnecessary or improper manner... a rider must not use his or her whip using an action that raises the rider's arm above shoulder height" - Australian Rules of Racing: 132 Limits on the use of a whip by a rider. Subrule 6B.
