Within the past week, two horses suffered gruesome injuries in front of racegoers in Victoria. Front legs on both 6yo Cannonball and 6yo Explosive Rosie fully snapped under them while they were forced to race for entertainment and gambling profits.
Both horses were also put on the racetrack at two years of age, and Cannonball was race trialled even before he turned two.
Catastrophic injuries sustained on the racetrack, like these suffered by Explosive Rosie and Cannonball, are not random accidents. They are a direct result of pushing the horses too far, too fast and way too young.
