As I harvest my lavender to dry , I am reminded of this one I wrote a few years ago.

When we were young, and our hearts were free
We roamed in the fields, and loved so sweetly
Days were long, and our cares were few
When we became one , where the lavender grew

The sun warmed our backs, and the scent filled the air
And you held me so tightly as the wind blew my hair
And you promised when age, made me no longer fair
You'd carry me back, to the lavender there.

So many years, since war took you away

As we loved in the place , where the lavender grew

Now my life is dimming and days are but few
My mind is so peaceful, as I think of you
