Based on Harold Robbin's novel, this isn't really a great film by any means, it's kind of a soapy potboiler with some scenery-chewing. The real-life animosity between Susan Hayward and Bette Davis (playing a combative mother and daughter) works well for the movie, even though the anachronisms make this sort of a guilty pleasure (the flashbacks, set in the 1940s, don't even attempt to make the hairstyles and clothing seem of the period), and it was supposedly "inspired" by the Lana Turner/Johnny Stompanato incident, so it has gained something of a cult following. Michael Connors played Hayward's ex-husband and the father of her troubled daughter, Joey Heatherton is the troubled pouty sex-kitten daughter while Jane Greer portrays a compassionate juvenile caseworker. The title song (performed by Jack Jones) is lovely and romantic, so what the hell, I still enjoyed making this video!
