Bodycam footage captured the pursuit by FWC officers as they chased down a driver who had confronted them on the highway while they were assisting an elderly couple with a tire change. During the tire change, a dark-colored van passed the marked FWC vehicles and disabled vehicle closely, with the driver yelling at the officers for being in the road. The officers decided to conduct a traffic stop on the van. After following the vehicle for about two blocks with lights and sirens activated, the driver finally stopped. Upon exiting the van, the driver engaged in a verbal altercation with the officers, disregarding their commands to return to the vehicle and raise his hands. Despite being informed that he was under arrest, the driver resisted, prompting the officers to attempt to restrain him physically. During the struggle, the driver attempted to grab one of the officer's tasers. Despite being drive-stunned multiple times, he continued to resist until eventually complying with the officers' commands to be handcuffed. EMS was called to assess the driver's condition, who showed signs of impairment, including the odor of cannabis and extreme mood swings. The driver requested to be taken to the hospital, and an officer accompanied EMS for the ride. Once medically cleared, the driver was read implied consent and asked to submit to a urine test, initially refusing but eventually consenting. A urine sample was collected and sent to the PCSO Lab for testing. The driver was then transported to the PCSO jail and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, and DUI, in addition to receiving three traffic citations.
