Sovereign Citizen Handcuffs HIMSELF During Traffic Stop Florida Fish and Wildlife Officers were on the scene with another officer for a resource and boating safety stop in the Pass-A-Grille Beach area. During their investigation, an unrelated individual stopped his vehicle on Pass A Grille Way and began aggressively yelling, demanding to know who was in charge. One of the officers walked over and asked the individual what was wrong, but he continued to act aggressively and refused to provide more context.
The officer stated that they were all officers and that assistance could be provided, but the individual continued to demand and argue with the officers. After a short period, the officer observed cars backed up behind the individual's vehicle, which was obstructing the roadway. The officer informed the individual that a traffic stop was being conducted due to his impeding the flow of traffic and requested that he pull over to the side of the road.
The officer explained that assistance had been attempted and clarified the reason for the stop. He then requested the individual's ID for identification purposes, but the individual refused to comply. Despite being given multiple opportunities to display his ID, the individual continued to refuse. The officer then warned the individual that failure to display his ID would result in arrest. The individual again refused and subsequently grabbed a pair of handcuffs from his vehicle, attempting to handcuff himself.
The officers then removed the individual and placed him under arrest. The individual was charged with resisting without violence and was issued two UTCs. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
