Christians often like to accuse atheists of using "bad theology" or otherwise being ill-informed about theology when critiquing their beliefs. My counter to this is that there is no verifiably correct or good theology, because theology can be nothing more than someone's personal impression of who a god is or what they want. Until we can start verifiably studying the traits of a god, it's all arbitrary.
But what if I'm wrong about this? What if theology is a reasonable science? After being told that I just go after "low hanging fruit" and pointed to the Thomistic Institute as an example of apologetics that are apparently further up the tree, I found a video discussing the science of theology. This got me curious to hear how someone might intelligently argue that theology is more than just someone's personal understanding of the entirely unverifiable backed up only by which tradition happens to be their favorite. So join me, as we find out whether Father Joseph of the illustrious Thomistic Institute makes a good case, is shown to offer nothing but another version of hollow apologetic bombast, or maybe falls somewhere in between.
