Public toilets on public lands are there for everyone. Help keep them clean, safe, and open.
Please don’t throw trash, pet waste bags, diapers, wipes, food, gear, or human waste pack-out bags into vault toilets. These items can damage equipment, create health and safety issues, and make it harder to service the restroom.
A good rule: if you wouldn’t flush it at home, don’t put it in a public toilet. Toilet paper is okay. Trash goes in the trash.
A clean restroom doesn’t have to become a hazardous waste experience. Clean up after yourself and help the next visitor have a better trip.
BLM Utah reminds visitors not to put trash into toilets because it can damage restroom systems and make septic tanks harder to empty. The agency also notes that bagged dog waste and pack-out systems should not be placed in vault toilets.
