#MoneyIsTheFallacy at the core of our globalized Western civilization. Money, as currently defined, is a debt-based accounting system that
- borrows against the future,
- fosters the illusion that buying 'stuff' makes us happy, and
- virtually requires us to be unconscious and amoral.
The storming of the Capitol Building on Jan 6th, 2021 was a reckoning, and a wake up call. Here Vicki Robin asks us to examine how we are complicit in that event. In a million small acts of compliance with social and economic norms, we’ve lost accountability to one another, to the social glue that holds a healthy society together. Producing, consuming, exploiting people and resources, we become numb and turn a blind eye to what we are doing to our planet, and to each other.
Can we create #ResilientCommunities based, not on consumption and competition, but on a real morality of interdependence? Will we follow the 'golden rule' or the 'golden calf'?
