When people ask me how I “treat” depression, I want to be very clear: I don’t. I’m not a physician.
But if you’re struggling with your mood, one of the first things I recommend is making movement non-negotiable.
Get outside. Go for a walk. Put on a weighted vest if it’s appropriate for you. Do something that challenges your body. I’m also a huge believer in controlled cold exposure for people who can safely tolerate it. You don’t need colder or longer. The goal is simply to create the physiological response.
None of these are replacements for professional mental health care, but I’ve seen how powerful simple, consistent habits can be for supporting how you feel.
