Most people have no idea what anxiety actually is. Here's the way I look at it...
We've gotten really good at describing what anxiety feels like. Racing heart. Restlessness. Feeling on edge. But those are the symptoms, not necessarily what's driving them.
A lot of the time, anxiety comes down to brain chemistry. Specifically, a rise in neurotransmitters called catecholamines. And if you have a COMT gene variant, your body may not clear them as efficiently, which can leave you feeling like you're stuck in fight or flight.
