GoNorth Japan | What I Bring on Day Hikes in Japan @GoNorthJapan | Uploaded August 2020 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
I go through some of the essential things I bring when I go on day hikes in Japan.

Here is a full list of the gear I mention in this video:
Montbell hat with neckshade and strap/clip
Sunglasses
SPF50 Sunblock
Headlamp (Couldn't find exact one I use online, but there are tons of great ones)
Bear bell (They sell these at every hardware and outdoor store in Japan)
Pepper spray
First-aid kit
GoPro Hero 8 Black (amzn.to/31V4L3P)
Sony ZV-1 (amzn.to/2Y2qZji)
DJI Mavic 2 Zoom
DJI Smart Controller (amzn.to/30ZDJZN)
Anker Powercore 1500 Charger (amzn.to/2EcSRKk)

In terms of water - I really recommend bringing more than you think you'll need. If you're out all day and you're anything like me, you'll want 2.5 liters or more.

Also- I cannot overstate the usefulness of the YAMAP app on your smartphone. The offline maps, distances, information on bathrooms and water sources, etc. etc. are just invaluable! And it's free!
