Simply put - we don't know yet. Although the Liberal campaign promised a "reinvigorated" confiscation program (among other gun reforms) and saw one of Canada's most ardently anti-gun lobbyists ushered into elected office, the unique make-up of the House of Commons puts us into uncharted territory with a Prime Minister who has never been a politician before.
Moreover, given the effort poured into the gun bans by the previous Trudeau administration, it's notable that the Liberal Party did not deploy gun politics as the prominent wedge issue they had in previous elections, even though they'd certainly laid the groundwork to do so. If anything, public and media response to the few mentions of the so-called "buyback" was largely muted, if not downright oppositional - with the vast preponderance of responses across numerous social media networks denigrating the wastefulness of the program.
All that is to say, speculation at this early stage likely accomplishes little beyond causing panic and feeding anxiety, so take a breath - stay calm - and keep a stiff upper lip. Oh, and then email your MP, and ask for a meeting.
