The upcoming election will determine the future of gun ownership in Canada in a more meaningful way than any election before. With the Liberals promising to at least maintain the Trudeau-era prohibitions and reforms, and recruiting one of Canada's most ardent gun control advocates as a candidate in PolySeSouvient's Nathalie Provost, the maintenance of the existing bans may be a best-case scenario for gun owners in the case of a Liberal victory.
Because if past performance is any indication, the Liberals will likely lean heavily on previously utilized and familiar rhetoric that may both mislead voters in a similarly familiar (and proven) manner - while also providing cover for potential future changes - including a full review of the entire classification system; something Provost has repeatedly called for.
But the cure for misinformation is education. So with 2.4 million Canadian gun owners facing likely the most important election in our nation's history with regards to the freedom to own, and enjoy firearms, and many likely unaware of the stakes at risk in the event of a Liberal victory, please impress upon your friends, and fellow gun owners and hunters the reality of the situation.
