In the beginning of January, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad kicked off their 2023 operating season with 2-6-6-2 Mallet number 1309 on the point of a weekend of excursions to Frostburg. Each day, 1309 pulled 2 excursions to Frostburg. This allowed for an action packed day of filming since most operating days only consist of one trip to Frostburg.
On this cold winter's day, the constantly changing weather conditions allowed for the capturing of a variety of shots. Additionally, 1309 was equipped with a Southern Longbell 3 Chime believed to be from a Southern Railway Ts-1. So sit back, relax, and enjoy winter mountain railroading through Western Maryland.
