At 1600 feet in elevation, Mt Lofty Station is the highest point on the line between Adelaide and Melbourne. Trains battle the 2.2% grade to reach the summit and pass the station , and then descend a 2.2grade down to Adelaide. A Pacific National intermodal rounds the bend with 2 GE "NR" units and a EMD 82 class making good speed up the grade. Next is a SCT mixed freight and intermodal with a long train and a mix of EMD and Chinese power. SCT run long and heavy trains and they sometimes crawl through Loft'y at walking pace!
