Spring has sprung here at the West Coast National Park in Langebaan, where the annual tradition for Western Capers is to mark the start of spring amongst the rare wild flowers at the reserve. One of a handful of few places on record across Africa that has wild, seasonal spring-time blooms, recent low winter rains over July and the general impact of climate change has produced a lower count of flowers this year. The phenomenon attracts visitors from all over the world, but South Africans remain the most consistent Wild Flower Season observers.
