A demo playthrough of Well Dweller, where you're a bird named Glimmer out to get food for your family with the queen and her underlings having it out for birds and all you have is a match to fight them off. Things take a turn for the worst when you get back. I can't help but feel things would have gone better if Egbert was sent for food instead.
I've greatly enjoyed their previous games Sheepo, Islets, and Crypt Custodian (recommending all three although Sheepo being their first game is a good bit rougher) and Well Dweller looks like it'll be another great game. A bit darker in aesthetic but still with some familiarity with their earlier games. The bubble movement and matchstick jumps are fun for platforming and the one boss present is a good fight.
I generally view Islets and Crypt Custodian as more casual Metroidvanias as they really aren't too difficult although on hard difficulty you do appear to die in three hits (and similarly in Islets and Crypt Custodian you were hit pretty hard on higher difficulties). The matchstick healing will make things more involved for recovery since it actively has to be timed but I suspect trinkets will make it easier to pull off.
Otherwise, this is one that you should definitely keep an eye on if you like Metroidvanias.
Well Dweller can be wishlisted and the demo played (starting April 23rd) at store.steampowered.com/app/3699590/Well_Dweller
I received an early key to try the demo.
