Do you think Weimar Classicism should be considered its own literary movement? A movement primarily made of the works of Goethe and Schiller, many in the West have decided it is more an ‘into” to Romanticism, or teach it as such. Establishing a new humanism, the ideals found within the works, borrowed heavily from the Age of Enlightenment, and encouraged a neo-classical aesthetic. The philosophy of Johann Gottfried Herder was greatly influenced on the founders of the movement, and continued to influence the romantic authors that followed.
