Boondocking in Arizona in winter is awesome and our composting toilet has given us a HUGE advantage! Lyf Uninterrupted takes on their first 30 day desert boondocking challenge in the beautiful desert of Arizona! This is our first time camping in the Arizona desert for this amount of time and we have some tips, tricks, hacks and cost savings to share with you along the way. Free BLM camping in Arizona is plentiful and we plan to take advantage of what's available in Quartzsite, Parker and Lake Havasu. The Southwest offers some of the most beautiful and wide-spread (open) BLM camping you can find. In week 3, we share some of the places we've gone, our boondocking campsite along the beautiful Colorado River and where we're headed next. We were in for a great surprise when we chose our latest boondocking spot in Parker, Arizona. What is that noise?! We visit the Bluewater Casino, the Desert Bar, Roadrunner Floating Bar & Grill and the Arizona Drag Boat Association Races!!
How did we fare in Week 3 on propane, water, food and electricity? We'll share what we've learned and experienced so far! Imagine having the beautiful, expansive, open desert as your home base for 30 days. Best of all, BLM is FREE camping! Living in the desert may sound challenging to some, but it's something we are absolutely loving. Boondocking doesn't have to be scary, it just has to be planned for, especially if you plan to do it for a longer length of time. Brian removed our regular RV toilet and put in place a Nature's Head composting toilet. This has allowed us to boondock, off grid, for a lengthy period of time. Sunshine Key Rv Resort is an Encore RV resort in the Florida Keys. You CAN afford this little slice of paradise on the Florida Keys! Our Thousand Trails membership made living on this island affordable. Within steps to the beach, we were able to soak up the sand and surf everyday for two weeks right outside our door! Close to everything since its in the lower keys, we were able to take time to explore Key West, the Southernmost point, Hemingway house, Smathers beach, Margaritaville and all points in between. We unknowingly found ourselves on Key West during the Fantasy Fest! It was a wild and crazy time and unfortunately we were unable to use most of our footage due to a serious lack of clothing on the streetgoers. Glad we got to experience it though.

Sunshine Key is located on Ohio Key which is part of the larger Big Pine Key. Right down the road (within an easy bike ride), is Bahia Honda State Park which boasts one of the Top 10 beaches in the Keys. We LOVED the warm, clear turquoise water of this beach! Sunshine Key was renovated after Hurricane Irma devastated it two years ago. Sunshine Key RV Resort was reopened a year ago and is better than ever. RV sites are comprised of crushed coral and are nice and wide. Most are pull-in spots for easy access. The bathhouses were clean and plentiful. We felt safe and secure at Sunshine Key RV Resort in the lower Florida keys.
Thousand Trails made this slice of paradise (and beach living) super affordable for us. This RV park requires a premium payment of $22.50 per night, but well worth it for the amenities! Booking a site in October/November was easy as it was still considered to be off-season. Only about a 1/3 of the park was booked which enabled us to practically have a beach-front site. Each day we would put up an umbrella and chairs and actually sit on the white sand (or sand bar) and soak up the sun, drink a cocktail and enjoy the mild temperatures.
Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina has several amenities including: Large marina, pier, bait house and kayak and paddle board rentals. Large laundry facility and attached fitness center. Recreation hall with attached tennis/pickle ball courts. Super tropic pool area with palapas and loungers. Outside activities include volleyball and basketball courts. Horseshoe pits and corn hole also provided. We were super impressed with the children play area. New, clean and safe!

If you get the chance, take a bike ride over to Bahia Honda State Park. Youll save money by biking in for the day. Bring chairs (or a blanket) and an umbrella and spend the day snorkeling the clear waters and floating in the clear blue sea. This area was one of our absolute favorites! Did you know its one of the top 10 beaches and most photographed?

There are many RV, Camping, travel & fuel memberships, clubs, programs, discounts and credit cards that will save you money on the road. You just need to know which RV, camping, travel and fuel memberships to use depending on where, when and how you travel. When we first started out, we had no idea which RV and camping memberships to purchase, so we did our research on how to save money rving and found many RV, fuel and camping memberships and discounts to choose from. The key to saving money while traveling is purchasing the cards and memberships when youre best able to use them.
Did you know you can get up to half off on RV parks? How about getting in FREE at national parks? Would you like to get cash back on the purchases youre already going to make on the road? How about saving money at the pump? Why not? Youre going to have to fuel that RV, truck, van or car anyhow!! Fuel discounts are a great benefit. Who are we?
We are Brian and Shawnna, a full time RV couple who enjoy full time RV life. We travel in a 34 foot, 2008 Winnebago Motorhome with a preference for boondocking (dry camping). We vlog, blog and update social media with our RV travel experiences, advice and challenges with a goal of helping other RVers along the way - find beautiful places to stay and save money by seeking out low cost campgrounds and awesome boondocking sites. The full time RV life is a great way to live, but its not without its challenges. We plan to share those with you and offer advice along the way.

We share reality of what a travel day looks like for a full time RV couple. We have a good plan, so what could go possibly go wrong? When you live in a motorhome, as we do, your home and tow vehicle go through extensive wear and tear every time it hits the road. Sometimes your best planning efforts pan out, other times, unpredictable circumstances occur. When youre moving your home on a regular basis, you have to anticipate the unknown and remain flexible. Attitude is everything! Sometimes its not your home, but the traveling guides and apps that steer you wrong. Have you ever spent all day on the road only to find your destination is closed, uninhabitable, too small, too dirty or just not to your liking? What do you do? Do you have a Plan B? How far do you continue traveling to find a place to sleep? To get water? To find groceries? What happens if your RV (home) breaks down on the side of the highway, miles away from an RV repair facility? What do you do?!
RVers and travelers alike are typically a highly resourceful bunch. RVs break down, campsites close, resources are unavailable, storms crop up and life happens! Attitude is everything!

2019 is a wrap and 2020 is shaping up nicely! In this weeks video we talk about the Best, Worst and Scariest of 2019 . We cover what we experienced during our 7 month full-time RV living odyssey. Our trek took us through 17 states and over 8000 miles on some of Americas most scenic highways and byways. It was a year of high highs and some low lows, but all in all, a great year!
Our 2020 travel plans are shaping up nicely and it looks to be an exciting year as we traverse the West Coast and desert Southwest. Our goal this year is to slow down so that we can take in the areas we visit for much longer periods of time. Well share our full plans in an upcoming Livestream.
