Sunshine Key Rv Resort is an Encore RV resort in the Florida Keys. You CAN afford this little slice of paradise on the Florida Keys! Our Thousand Trails membership made living on this island affordable. Within steps to the beach, we were able to soak up the sand and surf everyday for two weeks right outside our door! Close to everything since it's in the lower keys, we were able to take time to explore Key West, the Southernmost point, Hemingway house, Smather's beach, Margaritaville and all points in between. We unknowingly found ourselves on Key West during the Fantasy Fest! It was a wild and crazy time and unfortunately we were unable to use most of our footage due to a serious lack of clothing on the streetgoers. Glad we got to experience it though.

Sunshine Key is located on Ohio Key which is part of the larger Big Pine Key. Right down the road (within an easy bike ride), is Bahia Honda State Park which boasts one of the Top 10 beaches in the Keys. We LOVED the warm, clear turquoise water of this beach! Sunshine Key was renovated after Hurricane Irma devastated it two years ago. Sunshine Key RV Resort was reopened a year ago and is better than ever. RV sites are comprised of crushed coral and are nice and wide. Most are pull-in spots for easy access. The bathhouses were clean and plentiful. We felt safe and secure at Sunshine Key RV Resort in the lower Florida keys.

Thousand Trails made this slice of paradise (and beach living) super affordable for us. This RV park requires a premium payment of $22.50 per night, but well worth it for the amenities! Booking a site in October/November was easy as it was still considered to be off-season. Only about a 1/3 of the park was booked which enabled us to practically have a beach-front site. Each day we would put up an umbrella and chairs and actually sit on the white sand (or sand bar) and soak up the sun, drink a cocktail and enjoy the mild temperatures.

Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina has several amenities including: Large marina, pier, bait house and kayak and paddle board rentals. Large laundry facility and attached fitness center. Recreation hall with attached tennis/pickle ball courts. Super tropic pool area with palapas and loungers. Outside activities include volleyball and basketball courts. Horseshoe pits and corn hole also provided. We were super impressed with the children play area. New, clean and safe!

If you get the chance, take a bike ride over to Bahia Honda State Park. You'll save money by biking in for the day. Bring chairs (or a blanket) and an umbrella and spend the day snorkeling the clear waters and floating in the clear blue sea. This area was one of our absolute favorites! Did you know it's one of the top 10 beaches and most photographed?

We are Brian and Shawnna, a full time rv couple who enjoy full time RV living.
