We share reality of what a travel day looks like for a full time RV couple. We have a good plan, so what could go possibly go wrong? When you live in a motorhome, as we do, your home and tow vehicle go through extensive wear and tear every time it hits the road. Sometimes your best planning efforts pan out, other times, unpredictable circumstances occur. When you're moving your home on a regular basis, you have to anticipate the unknown and remain flexible. Attitude is everything! Sometimes it's not your home, but the traveling guides and apps that steer you wrong. Have you ever spent all day on the road only to find your destination is closed, uninhabitable, too small, too dirty or just not to your liking? What do you do? Do you have a Plan B? How far do you continue traveling to find a place to sleep? To get water? To find groceries? What happens if your RV (home) breaks down on the side of the highway, miles away from an RV repair facility? What do you do?!
RV'ers and travelers alike are typically a highly resourceful bunch. RV's break down, campsites close, resources are unavailable, storms crop up and life happens! Attitude is everything!

Our trek took us through 17 states and over 8000 miles on some of Americas most scenic highways and byways. It was a year of high highs and some low lows, but all in all, a great year!
Our 2020 travel plans are shaping up nicely and it looks to be an exciting year as we traverse the West Coast and desert Southwest. Our goal this year is to slow down so that we can take in the areas we visit for much longer periods of time. Well share our full plans in an upcoming Livestream. Affordable RV Living is within your reach! Interested in free or low-cost campgrounds? US Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds (COE campgrounds) are one of the best values (low cost) for camping and RV living. Most COE campgrounds are equipped with partial hookups, nearby water, dump stations, warm showers and great amenities. For the fisherman, many COE campgrounds are designed with you in mind - and include boat launching facilities, fish cleaning stations, ample fishing spots, great lakeside views and awesome low-cost camping spots. Since the making of this video, we have now utilized 5 COE campgrounds and found most to be extraordinary (at a low cost) with wide camping areas, modern play areas for the kids, beautiful lake views, swimming beaches, clean dump stations, clean park and friendly camp hosts. COEs typically charge $20 - $30 for partial hookups and less for primitive tent sites. COEs are a low cost (and in some cases no cost) RVing and camping alternative to more expensive private campgrounds and RV parks.
Alongside one of our recent COE campground stays, we discovered a free primitive COE campground that was very well maintained with awesome views and sites on the Missouri River. Had we known about this location prior to making our reservations, we would have stayed here. 20+ sites and only a few RVs in the whole area! Imagine having your own RV/campground site on the banks of the Missouri - for FREE!
