ONE HOUR A DAY

I know a lot of people are working other jobs while pursuing their art. A lot of people ask me if an hour a day is enough. The answer is emphatically yes!! Last week I said that I don’t worry about how much I get done, how many words I write, etc. I worry about showing up every day. So if you’re showing up, fully committed and getting to it every day – you’re not aspiring, you’re not wannabe, YOU ARE A WRITER, ARTIST, MUSICIAN, FILL IN THE BLANK. Don’t underestimate the power of one hour a day

Just wanted to add one thing. I use “the writer” as an example a lot. But this is the same if you are a painter, musician, dancer, sculptor. Don’t tell yourself “he’s only talking to writers.” That’s Resistance trying to keep you down.

I love Steven Soderbergh’s Oscar speech for the movie “Traffic” where he thanks all of the artists that put in one hour a day. I’ve added an excerpt from to the end of this video.
