We take you on a narrated behind the scenes tour of the making of Harry Potter at Warner Brothers Studios in London featuring all the latest updates and attractions for 2025.
The Making of Harry Potter is the behind-the-scenes one-way walking tour of the Harry Potter set where all the films were made, which opened in 2012. The tour features authentic sets, concept art, scale models, costumes and props from the Harry Potter series - we even got to try the famous Butter Beer and take a stroll through Harry’s childhood home on Privet Drive!
The tour is located 20 miles from Central London at Warner Bros. Studios in Watford. Tickets are not available for sale at the attraction, they must be booked online in advance.
When you enter the building to the main foyer, the first thing to see is various posters of characters from the films on the wall as well as a huge Dragon suspended from the ceiling. There is a huge gift shop which is accessible before and after the tour. There is also various themed food and snack options in the foyer.
As you line up to start the tour, you can view the cupboard from under the stairs at Privet Drive. You’ll then enter a standing room containing posters of the film. The tour guide will then lead you into a cinema to watch a small clip of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson explaining why Harry Potter was a success and what it meant to them. The film will end with the trio going into the Great Hall. The screen will then lift up, revealing the actual Great Hall.
Once you enter the Great Hall, the guided tour is ended and you are left to go through the rest of the tour on your own, in your own time. The tour should take you about three hours to complete.
In this video I’ll take you a walk through the original Hogwarts Express, past Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and into the outdoors backlot which contains the set of 4 Privet Drive, the Potters' Cottage from Godric's Hollow, the schools greenhouses, the Knight Bus and the Hogwarts Bridge.
We also take you for a stroll along Diagon Alley, through Gringotts Wizzarding Bank and have a scary Dragon encounter. The last part of the tour is down the corridor, where a large scale model of Hogwarts Castle was used for exterior shots in the movies.
