We hiked 7 miles in a frozen river to the LONGEST & DEEPEST slot canyon in the WORLD

Buckskin Gulch. If you are familiar with this channel, you know about my obsession with Buckskin Gulch. I can't remember how many times I've hiked it. And each time, it amazes me. Whenever anyone asks for recommendations around Page or Kanab, I always say "Check out Buckskin Gulch."
So when Clint was coming into AZ for a trip to the Grand Canyon, he already knew about Buckskin Gulch. So he asked if we could go. This is where I go into some logistics and a timeline. Firstly, Buckskin Gulch is about 13~15 miles long. Most of those miles are in a narrow, deep slot canyon. And many areas of that slot canyon have areas where there are pools or puddles of water. Water that often doesn't see daylight. And then there is that infamous section of extremely tight and often really wet narrows after the Middle Pass.
But water isn't really an issue. The issue was the temperature of the water. We were going in late February. Despite popular belief, the desert gets COLD in the winter. Night temps on this trip were in the mid twenties.
Oh, and it had snowed recently.
Fearing hypothermic conditions, I opted to go in Whitehouse. The Whitehouse Trail follows the Paria to the confluence with Buckskin Gulch where the campsites are located. The Whitehouse Trail is open for about 5 miles, then starts to slot up for the last 2~2.5.
To my surprise, the Paria was flowing. And there was ice on the banks and even floating in the river itself. This is where I add that even though most of Whitehouse is open, you have to cross the Paria a countless number of times.
But there was really no other choice. That was the plan and those were the conditions. So off we went. And this is what happened.
