Follow The Camino is tackling Climate Change close to home; in Ireland. This is our unique contribution to Sustainability and Responsible Travel.
At Follow the Camino, we believe in doing the right thing. This means taking responsibility for the impact we have on the places and communities we work with. Climate change is happening and represents the biggest challenge of the next 50 years. We take responsibility for our carbon footprint and work on reducing our carbon emissions as much as possible.
Bogs are a great example of a carbon sink. Damaged bogs, however, release a lot of carbon. That's why we are restoring an Irish bog in collaboration with Green Restoration Ireland. By closing trenches and planting trees and other native bog plants we are reducing the carbon that is emitted by the damaged bog. As the bog recovers, it will start to take in carbon. We are not buying carbon credits!
This is our way of providing our customers with climate neutral and unforgettable holidays on the Camino de Santiago.
