I used a softer piece of Water Oak than usual. Your wood for bow drill has to be at least hard enough to create friction enough to char the dust. Gladly this near punky branch was just hard enough to produce an ember. I transferred it to some bracket fungus then ignited leaves, both from straight off the ground.
