Choosing fabric can sometimes feel like the hardest part of sewing.
Especially at the beginning, when you’re just starting out.

There's so much information out there,
It can seem like there’s a whole language that you don't speak yet.

To start with, there are so many fabric names!
And then you pick up a fabric that says “linen” and realise it’s… not really linen at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️
It’s easy to feel like you’re just guessing and hoping for the best.

But, the secret isn’t memorising fabric names...
It’s learning how fabric behaves.

When you understand and can spot things like weight, drape, structure, hand, you can start to picture how a fabric will move and feel, and whether it suits the garment you have in mind.
Even before it’s in your hands.
