Let’s be honest. Sewing is hard enough already...
Then you add fitting on top of that?
Because when you add fitting, suddenly it feels like there’s a mountain of alterations to learn, somehow you’re supposed to know which ones to do, when to do them and all without knowing where to even begin.
It’s no wonder so many people feel stuck (or give up) at the fitting stage, before they even get started.
If you're like me, you've encountered this exact scenario:
You make a garment, and it technically fits… but it also doesn’t.
It pulls in weird places.
Gapes where it shouldn’t.
The seams don’t sit right somehow.
And all the tutorials seem to assume you already know what a sway back is or whether you need an FBA or an SBA — but you’re just trying to figure out why there's too much fabric at the waist!
This is where it helps to zoom out.
Because, just like learning to sew has stages, where you start at a beginner level (like with a simple bag or skirt) and build skills (lined jacket or ball gown)... learning to fit has levels, too.
