In many cases, games that were made for GBA to begin with, rather than being a port or remake, come standard with very bright palettes, with no option to get a more standard, SNES-style color palette.
This did of course generally reduce as time went on and the later models and Game Boy Player became more standard, sometimes but not often having brightness options, but it still happened pretty often even towards the end of the GBA's life cycle. And even then, there was no way to change what had already come out prior.
Thankfully, however, a solution is now available for this game! Thanks to the hard work of Piggy Chan!, Wario Land 4's color palettes have been entirely overhauled to work better when played on more modern displays and even the displays of the era, such as AGS-101.
Backgrounds and sprites are generally more vivid in color, more similarly to an SNES game, while significantly reducing the overall washed out over-brightened image of the original. This is done in such a way that it looks natural and very fitting for the game, looking almost as if the game could have come with such a brightness option for play on TVs or later model GBAs to begin with.
This suits screen-modded original GBAs and AGS-001, the Game Boy Player, stock AGS-101 systems, the DS and DS Lite, emulators, and more, which all generally don't have gamma correction/original screen emulation filters--and even then, these tend to often lack a satisfying amount of color or saturation in comparison to a proper full rework to suit a modern display.
