I'd booked a week off work so that I could spend five consecutive days walking The Ridgeway National Trail. My first long-distance walk and experience of backpacking!
Due to a poorly loaded rucksack and great physical discomfort, I'd be leaving the trail before Day 2 could begin. I hadn't enjoyed my day's walking and so, I questioned the point in continuing on.
Time would pass before I would return to the trail, with a lighter pack and all.
On day one, I walked a total of 25 miles, from Avebury to my first night's accommodation at Britchcombe Farm near Uffington. The Ridgeway begins at Overton Hill and I officially left the trail from the top of White Horse Hill.
I'm not pleased with the quality of this 'video'. Firstly, because I didn't film any footage as I was worried about draining my camera's battery. Secondly, for the poor audio quality of the narration. I'm using the same microphone but with a newer phone. I hope to make things better in each of the four videos that will follow.
Let this short story be a warning to people to seriously consider the weight and quantity of what you choose to carry with you.
