This fantastic river walk starts in Colchester Essex, Britain's oldest recorded town. Following the River Colne the walk explores Colchester's maritime history, passing a 1954 lighthouse vessel the and natural marshland habitat along the course of the river. We visit the historic riverside town of Wivenhoe where I stop for a great pub lunch. Pushing on along the river we walk along the Alresford Creek used for one of the locations in the TV adaptation of the Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. The final stage of the walk takes us into the Harbour town of Brightlingsea. This is a classic Essex walk.
