in 2016 the Waitt Foundation worked with Dr. Emanuel Gonçalves and the foundation Oceano Azul in order to conduct a scientific assessment in the island archipelago of the Azores. We were joined by our friend Enrique Ballesteros, free diver and scientist Jorge Fontes and others as we surveyed the dramatic oceanscape. Free diving with Manta rays and a chance encounter with an amazing pod of Sperm whales made this one of the more dramatic of our efforts.
