On June 5, 2019 the Waitt Institute's Founder and Chairman, Ted Waitt, met with the Honorable Walter Roban, Bermuda's Minister of Home Affairs, and Dr. William Curry, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding committing to work together to protect 20% of Bermuda's EEZ in new Marine Protected Areas. We will work with the government of Bermuda and BIOS on a marine Spatial Plan for Bermuda that protects her waters while also helping to grow their economy. We are pleased that one of the first countries to join our new Blue Prosperity Coalition is an ocean nation with a proud and historic tradition of protecting their ocean for the common good.
