This is a test flight of my mini "Vulcan" delta, with the main aim of refining its stability and assessing the small EDFs.
The model is much less wobbly than before, following adjustments to the gyro/gain settings.
A launch mode has been added, giving the model a useful amount of initial upward assistance on take-off.
Reducing the gyro gain has made a significant difference. The model is more responsive while remaining stable.
Slow-speed handling is particularly good, it seems pretty much dialled in now.
The Vulcan performs well in normal gyro mode, including rolling.
The small EDFs are performing very well indeed, confirming that the model is a useful test platform for them.
I experiment with increasingly slow flight and finds the model remains surprisingly stable.
The final landing is "an arrival rather than a landing", but the overall result is very positive.
Overall: A successful and encouraging test flight. The gyro adjustments have largely cured the previous instability, the low-speed behaviour is good, and the little EDFs are proving themselves very capable. I am very pleased with the Vulcan and the setup.
