This tornado near Temple, Oklahoma was intercepted and observed at close range, less than a half mile, by the University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology crew that was part of Project VORTEX (Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes EXperiment) on April 17, 1995. The tornado produced substantial damage to farmsteads along the path as observed in later portions of the video.
