This close encounter with a multiple vortex tornado was recorded by Fritch, Texas resident Gary Kays from his trailer home on June 27, 1992. Kays was first struck by lightning as the tornado approached, and continued to record video until he was stuck and rendered unconscious by a kitchen window as the tornado severely damaged his home. Despite all of that he survived with quite a video to share, and an excellent example at what not to do under these circumstances.
The video originally received public attention through the Tornado Video Classics video series and attendant rebroadcasts in various 1990's era television documentaries in the years after it was recorded.
