👥 [BAND INFO]
Garage Punk band from Thessaloniki, Greece, formed in 2003.
The first rehearsals of the band were like small parties, where the band played songs from favorite bands, like the Stooges, MC5, Ramones, The Clash and many others - working in parallel on their own material. In 2006, their first release, album "Living In Dogville" is released - including 11 songs written by the band.
In October 2007 comes their first tour outside Greece. From that point until today Voodoo Healers make 2-3 tours every year and each time adding new destinations and more cities/countries in the schedule. 763 concerts in 26 European countries up to now is definitely something that no other Rock n Roll band has done not only by Greece most probably by no other Balkan country. Tours up to 9 weeks from one side of Europe to the other, living literally on the road for years.
Their second was released in 2011 entitled "Dawn Of A Day", and the third one was released at the end of 2014 entitled "First You Dream After You Die" by True Trash Rec; a German label based in Munich. 2017 was the tenth consecutive year for the band on the road, with concerts in Greece, followed by a 7-week tour throughout Europe. As of late 2018, the band planned to start work on brand new material preparing a recording for a new album. There was also a re-release of the first album oin vinyl out in 15th of March 2018, from True Trash Rec/Swallow It All Rec and Basement Blues Rec, and is now sold out.
🎵 [SONG INFO]
"Oh! Carol" is an international hit written by Neil Sedaka in 1958. Co-written with Howard Greenfield, the song is noted for Sedaka's spoken recitation of the verse, the second time around.
It spent 18 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 9 on December 6, 1959, while reaching No. 3 on the UK's New Musical Express chart. It also earned Sedaka his first No. 1 ranking when it went to No. 1 in the Netherlands and Wallonia. After its release as a single, it was included in the album Neil Sedaka Sings Little Devil and His Other Hits.
"Carol" was a reference to Carol Klein, Sedaka's ex-girlfriend from high school and a fellow songwriter at the Brill Building. She had since married Gerry Goffin, who took the tune, and wrote the playful response "Oh! Neil", which she recorded and released as an unsuccessful single the same year (1959) under the stage name Carole King.

The B-side song, "One Way Ticket", also earned Sedaka a No. 1 ranking in Japan for several months in 1960.

🎵 [SONG INFO]
What Is Love is a song by Trinidadian singer Haddaway, released as his debut single from his debut album, The Album (1993).
The song, both written and produced by Dee Dee Halligan and Karin Hartmann-Eisenblätter, was released by Coconut Records in January 1993.
It was a hit across Europe, becoming a number-one single in at least 13 countries and reaching number two in Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Outside Europe, the single peaked at number 11 in the United States, number 12 in Australia, number 17 in Canada, and number 48 in New Zealand.
What Is Love earned Haddaway two awards at the German 1994 Echo Award, in the categories Best National Single and Best National Dance Single. The music video for What Is Love was directed by Volker Hannwacker and received heavy rotation on music television such as MTV Europe.
Background
What Is Love was written and produced by German music producer and composer Dee Dee Halligan (Dieter Lünstedt a.k.a. Tony Hendrik) and his partner/wife Junior Torello (Karin Hartmann-Eisenblätter a.k.a. Karin van Haaren) of Coconut Records in Hennef (Sieg) near Cologne. They had previously produced songs for successful groups like Bad Boys Blue and Londonbeat, and were waiting for the right singer for their new song. Trinidadian-born singer Nestor Alexander Haddaway was then chosen to sing it. He used to work as a producer, dancer and choreographer before he was signed to the label. He had lived in the US before moving to Germany. Haddaway didnt actually want to be a solo artist. He just wanted to be a producer, but to help a friend at Coconut that needed to pay the bills, he agreed to do some songs for his friend.
The producers of What Is Love wanted Haddaway to try singing the song in the style of Joe Cocker. He told them, I love Joe Cocker, but Im no Joe Cocker. He then came up with his own idea of how to sing it and the producers let the singer try it his way. Hendrik would lock himself in the studio, and eight or nine days later he came out with the song as was released. Haddaway told Simon Price of Melody Maker in 1994, that the song was originally a ballad and arrived after a year in a basement studio, In the beginning it was like five different pies, then those five pies became one pie. The female vocal on the track, meanwhile, was a stock sample released on the Zero-G sample compilation CD Datafile 1 (tracks 62–64), which was produced in 1991 by Zero-G co-founder and Jack N Chill member Ed Stratton, aka Man Machine, and was aimed at dance producers, DJs, programmers and artists. At first, it was difficult to sell the song. Haddaway told in 2018, Nobody wanted it. Every radio station said no. All the record companies said no. Everybody turned us down. And we got very lucky. There was a new radio station opening in Cologne at the WDR and yeah, they used What Is Love as a jingle. And we sent it out to like a thousand DJs to see what they thought about it and everyone gave a thumbs-up.
Cover versions and sampling
In 2007, the song was covered by indie band The Gossip, with lead singer Beth Ditto changing the lyrics to When Is Lunch?, Baby Im Hungry, Im Hungry, For More.
In 2009, singer and songwriter Diane Birch completely rearranged the song, that later was featured on Billboard magazines Mashup Monday in 2010.
In 2010, Swedish boy band E.M.D. released a piano ballad version of What Is Love as the second single from their sophomore studio album Rewind.
In 2010 Eminem and Lil Wayne sampled the song for the single No Love from Eminems seventh studio album, Recovery.
In 2011 Emergency Gate covered the song, in collaboration with Haddaway, for their 2011 EP Remembrance (The Early Days).
In 2014 Kiesza did a piano-and-synth cover of the song for her album Sound of a Woman.
In 2016 Death in Rome did a cover on their album Hitparade, which consists solely of cover versions of hit songs.
A cover version by Ultraclub 90 is included as one of the tracks in Just Dance 2017.
In 2023 David Guetta announced his own cover titled Baby Dont Hurt Me, featuring Anne-Marie and Coi Leray.

🎵 [SONG INFO]
Immigrant Song is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. Built upon a riff, it alludes to Norse mythology, with singer Robert Plants howling vocals mentioning war-making and Valhalla.
The song was included on their 1970 album Led Zeppelin III and released as a single. Several live recordings have also been issued on various Led Zeppelin albums.
Though Led Zeppelin are typically regarded as an album-oriented group, Immigrant Song is one of the bands several hit singles.
The songs popularity has led to its inclusion in such compilation albums as Led Zeppelin Remasters (1990) and Early Days: The Best of Led Zeppelin, Vol. 1 (1999).
Background
Immigrant Song was written during Led Zeppelins tour of Iceland, Bath and Germany in the summer of 1970. The opening date of this tour took place in Reykjavík, Iceland, which inspired Plant to write the lyrics.
Six days after Led Zeppelins appearance in Reykjavik, the band performed the song for the first time in concert during the Bath Festival.
Composition and lyrics
The song begins with a repeating, staccato riff by guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer John Bonham. Bassist John Paul Jones comes in on the ninth measure. It is performed in the key of F♯ minor at a moderate tempo of 112 beats per minute. A distinctive, wailing cry from Plant sets in after eight repeats. A very faint count-off in a different tempo (about 150 bpm) occurs at the beginning of the track, with much hiss, which appears on the album version, but is trimmed from the single version. The hiss is feedback from an echo unit.
A phrase from the song was used as the title of Stephen Davis biography of the band, Hammer of the Gods: The Led Zeppelin Saga. The lyrics also did much to inspire the classic heavy metal myth, of Viking-esque figures on an adventure, themes that have been adopted in the look and lyrics of bands such as Iron Maiden, Saxon, Manowar, Bathory, Enslaved and Amon Amarth.
Reception
In a contemporary review of Led Zeppelin III, Lester Bangs of Rolling Stone described Immigrant Song as the closest to being as classic as Whole Lotta Love, praising the songs bulldozer rhythms and Plants double-tracked wordless vocal crossings echoing behind the main vocal like some cannibal chorus wailing in the infernal light of a savage fertility rite.
In March 2023, Rolling Stone ranked Immigrant Song at number 18 on their 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time list.
Use of the song in media
Led Zeppelin originally denied Richard Linklater permission to use Immigrant Song in School of Rock (2003), but star and lead actor of the movie, Jack Black, was able to convince them by making a video of himself performing the song.
In the movie Shrek the Third (2007), Immigrant Song appears in a battle scene involving the character Snow White.
A cover of Immigrant Song, produced by Atticus Ross and Nine Inch Nails member Trent Reznor with vocals from Yeah Yeah Yeahs lead singer Karen O, plays in the trailer and throughout the title sequence of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).
Immigrant Song was included in both the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and twice in the film itself, due to director Taika Waititis suggestion of the song from the time of his first involvement with the film and to the persistent efforts of the movies music supervisor Dave Jordan.

The original recording of Uranium Rock by Warren Smith was not released as a single at the time it was recorded, which was in the late 1950s.
It was one of many songs recorded for Sun Records (A label famous for launching the careers of rock and roll legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis.) that were held in the can and not released to the public for a number of years.
The song was eventually released on a compilation album of Sun Records material, but a precise release date for the original recording as a standalone single or on a specific album can be difficult to pinpoint due to this history. Some sources say it was released in 1960 on a single, while others state that it wasnt released until 1973. However, its widely accepted that the song was recorded in 1958.
With its catchy rhythm and lyrics about a prospector striking it rich by finding uranium with his Geiger counter, the song is a perfect example of the rockabilly genres blend of country and rhythm and blues. It captures the spirit of the uranium prospecting boom of the 1950s, a period when people were encouraged to search for uranium ore and a new form of gold rush was happening in parts of the United States.
The song has also gained a new generation of fans after being featured on the in-game radio station in the video game series, Fallout.

🎵 [SONG INFO]
Hooked on a Feeling is a 1968 pop song written by Mark James and first recorded by American singer B. J. Thomas. Thomass version featured the sound of the electric sitar (played by Reggie Young) and reached No. 5 in 1969 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has been recorded by many other artists, including Blue Swede, whose version reached No. 1 in the United States in 1974.
Production
The song was written by Mark James, who was introduced to producer Chips Moman around 1967 by Momans mutual friend Steve Tyrell, a singer and James manager.
James was hired by early 1968 to write for Momans publishing company, which led to him writing songs for many artists, including his childhood friend B.J. Thomas.
One of these songs was Hooked on a Feeling, which James wrote about the thrills of being in love, inspired by his feelings for his childhood sweetheart.
It was recorded at the American Sound Studio in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968, with musicians Tommy Cogbill (guitar) Reggie Young (guitar), Mike Leech (bass) and Gene Chrisman (drums).
It was first released on October 29 of that year.
Cover versions
The band Mercy included a version on their first album in 1968.
In 1971, British musician Jonathan King recorded a cover version of the song, also with ooga chaka chants. King described it as a reggae rhythm by male voices. His version reached No. 23 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1971.
Country artists Louise Mandrell and RC Bannon recorded and released this song in 1979.
Blue Swede version
In 1973, the Swedish pop rock group Blue Swede released a cover version, which included the ooga chaka introduction from the 1971 cover by Jonathan King. It is commonly claimed that King had heard Johnny Prestons Running Bear, which was the inspiration for the ooga chaka chant, but King said, the chant had nothing to do with Running Bear — it was my idea to use the reggae rhythm in an unusual way, thats all.
The Blue Swede version of the song also tweaked the lyrics to avoid any possible interpretation of a drug reference. The original song included the lines:
I got it bad for you girl,
But I dont need a cure
Ill just stay addicted,
And hope I can endure
In place of that, Blue Swede sang:
Got a bug from you girl,
But I dont need no cure
I just stay a victim,
If I can for sure
Blue Swedes version reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in April 1974; Billboard ranked it as the No. 20 song for 1974.
There is a popular misconception in Sweden that it reached number one the same day ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo.
Hooked on a Feeling also entered the top 10 in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
In 1992, the song appeared on the soundtrack to the American crime film Reservoir Dogs. Following that appearance, the song charted in Iceland, reaching No. 2 in March 1993.

In popular culture
In 1992, Blue Swedes recording was featured on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantinos debut feature, Reservoir Dogs.
In 1998, during an episode of the legal comedy-drama series Ally McBeal, Cro-Magnon, the main characters neurosis about being able to conceive a child before her biological clock runs out, is illustrated by her imagining a computer-generated baby dancing into her bedroom to Blue Swedes recording of Hooked on a Feeling. A website featuring the dancing baby and the Blue Swede recording became an internet meme.
The 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy, which featured the brass fanfare and title lyrics of Blue Swedes version prominently in its trailers and theatrical release, resulted in a significant spike in sales for the recording; the films soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 chart in August 2014. The song was also featured in the teaser trailer for the 2017 sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
The song was performed by Blue Swedes lead vocalist Björn Skifs as the opening act of the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö.

A bootleg compilation of US hardcore 7 releases.

This version of La Bamba is shorter than the one on their 7 release. (Fatima Recordz – FTM 79, 1981)
It seems like they have cut the intro.
La Bamba is a Mexican folk song, originally from the state of Veracruz, best known from a 1958 adaptation by Ritchie Valens, a top 40 hit in the U.S. charts and one of early rock and rolls best-known songs.
Valens version of La Bamba is ranked number 354 on Rolling Stone magazine′s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and is the only song on the list sung in a language other than English.
La Bamba has been covered by numerous artists, most notably by Los Lobos, whose version was the title track of the 1987 film La Bamba and reached No.1 in the U.S. and UK singles charts in the same year.
The music video for Los Lobos version, directed by Sherman Halsey, won the 1988 MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from a Film.
Traditional versions
La Bamba is a classic example of the Son Jarocho musical style which originated in the Mexican state of Veracruz and combines Spanish, indigenous, and African musical elements.
The song is typically played on one or two arpas jarochas (harps) along with guitar relatives the jarana jarocha and the requinto jarocho.
Lyrics to the song vary greatly, as performers often improvise verses while performing.
However, versions such as those by musical groups Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan and Los Pregoneros del Puerto have survived because of the artists popularity.
The traditional aspect of La Bamba lies in the tune itself, which remains almost the same through most versions.
The name of the dance, which has no direct English translation, is presumably connected with the Spanish verb bambolear, meaning to shake or perhaps to stomp.
The traditional La Bamba is often played during weddings in Veracruz, where the bride and groom perform the accompanying dance.
The arriba (literally up) part of the song suggests the nature of the dance, in which the footwork, called zapateado, is done faster and faster as the music tempo accelerates.
Valens version
The traditional song inspired Ritchie Valens rock and roll version La Bamba in 1958.
Valens La Bamba infused the traditional tune with a rock drive, in part provided by session drummer Earl Palmer and session guitarist Carol Kaye, making the song accessible to a much wider record audience and earning it (and Valens) a place in rock history (inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001).
The musicians on that session were Buddy Clark: string bass, Ernie Freeman: piano, Carol Kaye: rhythm guitar, Rene Hall: Danelectro guitar (six-string baritone guitar), Earl Palmer: drums, Ritchie Valens: vocals, lead guitar.
The song ranked No.98 in VH1s 100 Greatest Songs of Rock and Roll and No.59 in VH1s 100 Greatest Dance Songs of Rock and Roll, both done in 2000.
Valenss recording of the song was inducted into the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame.

Viva Las Vegas is a 1964 song recorded by Elvis Presley written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman for his film of the same name, which along with the song was set for general release the year after.
Although Elvis Presley never performed the song live, it has since become popular and often performed by others. The RIAA certified the single disc Viva Las Vegas/Whatd I Say gold on March 27, 1992, having sold 500,000 copies in the United States.
History
The song was recorded on July 10, 1963. Released as a single in 1964 with the B-side Whatd I Say from the same film, Viva Las Vegas charted separately from its B-side, reaching No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. The Elvis version of Whatd I Say peaked at No. 21, the two sides having equivalent appeal in the marketplace. Viva Las Vegas reached No. 17 on the UK Singles Chart, improving to No. 15 after a reissue in 2007. The single reached No. 20 on the Record World chart in the U.S. and No. 14 in Canada. The song was published by Elvis Presley Music, Inc.
In the years since, the song has become popular. In 2002, the city of Las Vegas requested Elvis Presley Enterprises, the company that handles Elvis-related music rights, to allow it to be the official song of the city. Negotiations stalled over the price. EPE had not controlled the copyright to the song since 1993, at which time it became the property of the families of the songwriters Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman.
Use in other media
The song was featured in the 2010 video game Just Dance 2.
The song is featured in the film The Big Lebowski 2 times.
During the car accident in the fountain a version by Big Johnson and then Shawn Colvin performs it as a folk ballad during the closing credits.
The song has been adopted as the victory theme for the National Hockey League (NHL)s Vegas Golden Knights when they win games at T-Mobile Arena, and was played during their victory parade following the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals.
During the trophy ceremony of Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium, Travis Kelce, a tight end for the victorious Kansas City Chiefs, belted out an impromptu, raggedy chorus of the song.
The 2003 Scooby-Doo movie Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico featured a variation of the song entitled Viva Mexico, done in a Latin beat.
The song was recorded for a Viagra commercial with lyrics changed to Viva Viagra.
The song served as the theme tune for NBCs short-lived animation series, Father of the Pride.
In the 2003 movie Looney Tunes: Back in Action the song is played on the radio of the spy car Bugs Bunny and Kate Houghton are driving in on their way to Las Vegas with Bugs singing along to the song till Kate takes his guitar and throws it out of the car.
Dwayne The Rock Johnson sang a portion of the song during his WWE stint with the chorus changed to Viva Rock Vegas
Presleys version serves as the opening number in the first episode of the BBC One series Blackpool, with the various members of the Holden family singing along.

🎵 [SONG INFO]
Hang On Sloopy (originally My Girl Sloopy) is a 1964 song written by Wes Farrell and Bert Berns.
Rhythm and blues vocal group the Vibrations were the first to record the tune in 1964.
Atlantic Records released it as a single, which reached number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
According to Rick Derringer, the original version of Sloopy was written by a high school kid in St. Louis and sold to Bert Russell, also known as Bert Berns.
The inspiration for the song is said to be Dorothy Sloop, a jazz singer from Steubenville, Ohio, and a student at Ohio University.
McCoys version
In early 1965, the Strangeloves, a New York City rock band, wanted to make the song the follow-up to their hit single I Want Candy and began performing it in concert.
However, the Dave Clark Five, with whom they were touring, told the Strangeloves that they were going to record their own version when they returned to England, copying the Strangeloves arrangement.
The Strangeloves realized that the Dave Clark Fives cut would likely be a hit, but they were not yet ready to release a new single because they were still enjoying the success of I Want Candy from a few months earlier.
The answer presented itself when a young rock group named Rick and the Raiders opened (and provided backing) for the Strangeloves in July in Dayton, Ohio.
The Strangeloves, three writer-producers from Brooklyn, New York City, recruited Rick and the Raiders to record the song under their name.
Their 16-year-old leader, Rick Zehringer, was flown to New York to record his lead vocal over the Strangeloves already-recorded backing tracks.
It was decided to change the name of Ricks group to the McCoys to avoid confusion with another popular band at the time, Paul Revere & the Raiders, and Rick began using the stage name Rick Derringer.
The single was issued on Bang Records and entered the chart on August 14, 1965, effectively beating the Dave Clark Five to the charts. It reached the top position on October 2.
Originally written and recorded with three verses, the retitled Hang On Sloopy was edited down to two verses for the single and for the Hang On Sloopy album.
The unedited three-verse version, at 3 minutes, 50 seconds, first appeared on Bangs 1970 various artists compilation, Bang & Shout Super Hits (BLPS-220).

🎵 [SONG INFO]
Love the One Youre With is a song by American folk rock musician Stephen Stills. It was released in November 1970 as the lead single from his debut self-titled studio album (1970). The song, inspired by a remark Stills heard from musician Billy Preston, became his biggest hit single, peaking at No. 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1971.
David Crosby and Graham Nash, Stillss fellow members of Crosby, Stills & Nash, provided background vocals on the song. Rita Coolidge, her sister Priscilla Jones, and John Sebastian also provided background vocals. The song was later recorded by various artists including the Isley Brothers, The Meters, Bucks Fizz, Luther Vandross, Firefall, and Bob Seger.
Background
Stills wrote the song after being inspired by the tag line — If you cant be with the one you love, love the one youre with which was a frequent remark by musician Billy Preston. Stills explained in 1991: This song has been very good to me. The title came from a party with Billy Preston. Then I asked him if I could pinch this line he had, and he said, Sure. So I took the phrase and wrote a song around it. Its a good times song, just a bit of fun. My favorite part is the steel drums. I played them before a little bit but I just kept diddling around till I found the right notes. Billy Preston may have been familiar with the song When Im Not Near the Girl I Love from the 1947 musical Finians Rainbow which has the line When I cant be with the girl I love, I love the girl Im with. Like the majority of the album, Stills recorded the song over the previous summer. Former CSNY bandmate Graham Nash recalled in his book Wild Tales: Stephen called and said, You remember that song of mine, Love the One You’re With, that I cut in London? Well, Ive brought the track back and were in Wally Heiders with it. I need voices for the choruses. Any chance you and David would come down?.
Cover versions
Several acts have since recorded the song, most notably, in 1971, the Isley Brothers as the lead single from their ninth studio album Givin It Back, whose unique gospel-driven rendering of the song sent it to the charts again reaching number three R&B and number 18 pop, giving the group their fifth US top 40 pop single. It also reached number 10 on the US Cash Box chart. On the Canadian charts, their version reached No. 41.
British pop group Bucks Fizz covered the song as the fourth and penultimate single of their 1986 album Writing on the Wall.
Ultimately the song peaked at a low No.47 in the UK Singles Chart during a three-week run.
Australian pop group the Chantoozies released a version in February 1991.
The song was the third and final single from the groups second studio album, Gild the Lily (1991). The song peaked at number 21 on the Australian charts.
American singer-songwriter Luther Vandross released a version of the song on his ninth album, Songs (1994). It peaked within the top 30 of the US Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart, reached number 33 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, and earned Vandross a 1995 Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
Gino Soccio reached number 79 in Canada with a 1988 recording of the song.
Dutch duo Pep & Rash sampled this song in their song of the same name in 2016, which was a minor hit at Number 79 in French Belgium.
In culture
In 2012, the song was featured in Ridley Scotts science fiction movie Prometheus. Idris Elba, playing Janek, sings a short phrase from the song after claiming his squeezebox once belonged to Stephen Stills.
In 2022 the song featured in the season finale of BBC series Blue Lights.

Compilation of present-day punk and hardcore bands covering 80s metal hits.
Youve Got Another Thing Comin is a song by English heavy metal band Judas Priest.
It was originally released on their 1982 album Screaming for Vengeance and released as a single later that year.
In May 2006, VH1 ranked it fifth on their list of the 40 Greatest Metal Songs.
It became one of Judas Priests signature songs along with Electric Eye and Breaking the Law, and a staple of the bands live performances. Youve Got Another Thing Comin was first performed on the opening concert of the Vengeance World Tour at the Stabler Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on 26 August 1982 and had been played a total of 673 times through the 2012 Epitaph Tour.
The song reached No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it Judas Priests only song to make that chart.
Background
Singer Rob Halford said the lyrics were about Just this attitude that weve always had in Priest. And I dare say, weve always had in our personal way of dealing with issues that are sent to challenge us. ... Its also wrapped up in the heavy metal community culture of the way we support each other with our metal. Its very much a song of hope and rising above the issues or difficulties that come your way. Its a song of resilience, as well.
Charting
Youve Got Another Thing Comin has charted in two countries in the United Kingdom and in the United States.
In the United Kingdom it peaked at No. 66 in the UK Singles Chart and in the US, it reached No. 4 on the Billboard rock chart and No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Music video
The music video was directed by Julien Temple, and filmed at the Kempton Park Water Works. It features the band performing outside the pumping station among a background of lasers and smoke. Meanwhile, a higher authority figure arrives to shut the group down due to the noise level only to have his head blown off and their pants fall off towards the end of the video as a result of the exceeding force of Halford.
Reception
Wayne Parry of the Associated Press called it, along with Hell Bent for Leather and Living After Midnight, one of the standards against which other metal tracks are measured.
Greg Prato of AllMusic wrote that the song was what finally broke Judas Priest into the mainstream in the United States.
In 2012, Loudwire ranked the song number nine on its list of the 10 greatest Judas Priest songs, and in 2019, Louder Sound ranked the song number four on its list of the 50 greatest Judas Priest songs.
In other media
The song shows up on several video games, for example, it is featured on the jukebox of the first level of Prey; in Grand Theft Auto: Vice Citys radio station V-Rock; as downloadable content for Rock Band series (alongside the rest of the 1982 album Screaming for Vengeance), Rock Band Track Pack Volume 2; and a cover version is featured in Guitar Hero. It is also featured in 2K Sports Major League Baseball 2K9 and EA Sports NHL 12.
The original song is also featured in the 2011 comedy film, Bad Teacher.
The song was featured in a 2013 episode Hell Bent for Leather of Californication and in the 2020 season eleven episode The Orpheus Gambit of Archer.
