"Farmer Jane" celebrates the pivotal roles women play in the sustainable food movement, focusing on their unique contributions to farming, education, and activism. The book uncovers stories of social justice, sustainability, and the undervalued impact of women in agriculture, emphasizing the need for their stories to be heard and valued in the broader context of environmental and community health.

Author and activist Temra Costa talks about her book, Farmer Jane: Women Changing The Way We Eat, dedicated she says, to women whose stories are not often told. Costa interviews 30 women comprised of farmers, chefs, sustainable food activists and others who are instrumental in helping shape our alternative food system. In doing so, she hopes her book will add a wider range of voices to the food conversation.
