Over the past five years, ASEAN has made significant progress in advancing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, including through the adoption of the ASEAN Regional Plan of Action on Women, Peace and Security (ASEAN RPA-WPS) and the establishment of coordination, monitoring and knowledge-sharing mechanisms at the regional level.
With support from the Governments of the United Kingdom, Canada and the Republic of Korea, UN Women has provided sustained technical assistance to ASEAN institutions, sectoral bodies and Member States to strengthen regional ownership and implementation of the WPS agenda.
With support from the Governments of the United Kingdom, Canada and the Republic of Korea and technical assistance from UN Women, ASEAN implemented Empowering Women for Sustainable Peace: Preventing Violence and Promoting Social Cohesion in ASEAN (WPS ASEAN project).
The event is aimed to provide a strategic platform to share key evaluation findings and lessons learned of WPS ASEAN project, showcase concrete examples of WPS implementation in ASEAN through curated knowledge products and videos; and strengthen partnerships for advancement of WPS agenda in ASEAN.
