Playthrough of the Bay Bridge course. you just want to finish this course it’s not so bad, but getting 1st place on it? It’s a nightmare! It took me hours of practice to figure out how to do it, at one point I thought it was impossible. You know things are at defcon 1 status when I have to use manual transmission in a racing game.
The main point of interest in getting a 1st place run on Bay Bridge is the section from 1:50 through to 2:03. When you approach the right turn, brake and turn, accelerate and then when you approach the next right, shift down a gear and go round the right and left turn in gear 6, decreasing speed as needed. Stay in gear 6 as you start to go round the next right (at 2:00), then increase speed and shift back to gear 7.
Mastering this section was what it took to get 1st place for me. Before this I was thinking it wasn’t possible to overtake the 1st and 2nd place CPU cars, they were pulling too far ahead and I couldn’t catch them up no matter how hard I tried. Once I made the change to manual transmission I got this on the second attempt.
The CPU cars cheat, naturally. They can go off-road without slowing down, or just phase through each other without penalty (eg 4:19).
