Playthrough with Forest Law. The final Tekken game for the PS1 was released in 1998. Tekken 3 pulled a Street Fighter III in terms of the cast, the only difference being this game introduced new characters people actually liked, and also being sensible enough to bring back several older characters instead of just two. Although Forest here never seemed to catch on -he got replaced by his dad in later games, but he at least showed up in the Tag series.
Namco also tried some new gameplay modes with this game, but neither of them turned out that well. Tekken Force, a Final Fight style game, isn't very good due the camera getting very confused about who you're trying to fight most of the time, and Tekken Ball is fun for 5 minutes. However, the rest of the game is just as great as previous Tekken ports, featuring lots of unlockable characters, new FMV endings and more. And they even went and toned the CPU down -whilst it does get a lot harder the further you get, it's nothing compared to the first two games. This game also marked the peak of Tekken's popularity for a long time, selling around 8 and a half million copies. Despite its popularity, Tekken 3 was strangely not released on the PlayStation Network, although it did see a rerelease on the PlayStation Classic.
So for this playthrough I had to use my Tekken 3 disc on my PS3 console. It’s the PAL version, which has this oddity where the screen is centralized during FMV scenes, but isn’t during gameplay. And during gameplay, it just doesn’t look as good as it should. The reason for this, as explained by Raivop:

“The whole game, aside from FMVs, runs in interlaced high-res mode, and PS3's PS1 emulator doesn't really do deinterlacing well, hence those nasty interlace artifacts.”
Basically if you own this game, play it on a PS1 or PS2, don’t play it on a PS3.
