Playthrough with Rimururu. Now, by this game’s standards, I actually found it somewhat easy to beat this game with Rimururu. Don’t get me wrong: this game is ruined by the difficulty level, but Rimururu has some tactics to get through the game.
First off all, you need to fight Basara as your first opponent. From what I’ve seen, sometimes you’ll get Basara first, sometimes you’ll get Shizumaru. You really want Basara because the set of opponents you’ll go on to fight are much easier to beat than they are if you start with Shizuru.
The first two or three opponents you can beat just using C slashes. Nakoruru may block more than the others but C slashes should be enough. For Jubei, you need to start doing Rimururu’s D button kick at close range. This is a two hit thing that the CPU often doesn’t fully block, but it does little damage. However, it pushes them away. Once Jubei gets pushed back, jump forward and try to hit him with an air C slash. The ideal situation is once he gets pushed he does a projectile, which will mean your jumping attack is definitely going to hit him.
Gaira and Tam Tam struggle to deal with Rimururu’s neutral jump C. Just keep doing that and you should win. Sometimes you may have to jump towards them instead of neutral jumping, but the air C attack is all you need.
Amakusa is the stumbling block of this run because you have to get lucky -jump forward and use air C and standing C slashes only. He teleports around way too much and is difficult to hit, but he sometimes makes mistakes with his moves which will allow you to get hits on him -see the second round for example.
Zankuro is easy to beat because Rimururu has an actual strat which isn’t just hide in the corner and do air attacks. What you need to do is the QCB+A move. If Zankuro jumps towards you, he’ll do an air attack, so block it. But when he lands, he’ll slip on the ice, so you then need to hit him with a C attack. If he jumps back, he seems to always to his green wave projectile move, so jump towards him and hit him with an air C attack. Then do the QCB+A move and repeat.
Genjuro also has an exploit -if you do a neutral jump C attack at the right distance, he’ll counter it with his dp move, but will miss. So you can hit him with a C attack as he lands, then repeat.
Hopefully if you get all this done fast enough (remember to do an honorable death on the first few opponents, it’ll give you a full POW gauge so you can win faster) you should get the good ending and the bonus scene seen at 19:48 -you need to beat the entire game within your character’s time limit to get it.
