I'm thoroughly hyped for the show. Not only does it look like animation budget abuse, the story seems really interesting and it looks absolutely beautiful. If the series look as good as in the CM and PV, it will be the most beautifully animated anime series ever. I swear KyoAni has been smoking rainbows. It has been one of my most anticipated shows since last year, can't believe I still have to wait half a year for it to air.
The show's CM 2 has a background music which continues into PV 1, so I thought I'd stitch them together as an early guess since I can't find any official Violet Evergarden soundtrack as of now, and I don't even know if this song will make it into the show, but seriously, this soundtrack is under-appreciated. I've seen many cover the main theme (I'm not even sure if that's really the main theme), but haven't seen anyone try out this one yet over a week after PV 1 came out, so I thought I'd give it a try. For me, this soundtrack is the one which screams Violet Evergarden.
The musical structure reminds me a lot of Koe no Katachi's OST, lit, although its atmosphere is entirely different. It starts mellow, goes really powerful in the middle, and ends mellow. A good music is like a story: it has an intro, buildup, climax, and conclusion. A characteristic which Koe no Katachi's lit and this soundtrack has in common.

This is the second out of more Grand Piano Edition Covers coming very soon. The audio was recorded at ArtSound Studio Jakarta, mixed and edited by myself.
Connect has been one of my all-time favorites for quite a long time. The song is somehow really relatable to me, it feels like if my life were to be written into a song, it would be Connect. Its really melancholic yet so full of hope. It feels like the song is trying to tell you that no matter how hard life is, youll break through, youll succeed.
This arrangement is a fusion between two of Marasys arrangements and my own style. Just like Tell Your World, I knew the song for the first time from Marasys cover, which then led me to watching Madoka Magica... A year after... (I regret not watching it sooner)

This soundtrack is played at the very end of the film. Insanely powerful stuff.
This is the 39th and last track on A Shape of Light album disk 1 by Kensuke Ushio for Koe no Katachi. This is the longer, much more powerful version of another Koe no Katachi OST simply titled lit, which is at track #10. This soundtrack went straight up to my top list of OSTs taking the number one spot. It starts mellow, then goes INSANELY powerful, then goes back to slow and mellow with both musical and non-musical sounds. The inclusion of non-musical sounds is what makes the soundtracks in the album really unique.
This is the single most complex project Ive done in my life, and nothing before this ever even came close. The project has a total of 52 (yes, fifty two) separate audio and video tracks, consisting of piano sounds from the Roland RP301, other built-in string and synth sounds, and the Yamaha M1 upright piano for the very last part. I filmed and edited this in two cities, I first needed to film and edit in Bandung the day before, then went to Jakarta the next day to film with the Yamaha M1 and resume the editing. I traveled to get access to the Yamaha M1 because the very last part is crucial for the authentic acoustic piano feel and inclusion of non-musical sounds, just like the original song. Its what makes the song sound so alive.
The filming and recording process took me a total of two hours, and the editing process took me a total of ten hours, my longest editing process to date. Everything you see and hear are very, very carefully thought through. Each sound on every single track has distinct effects, reverberation values, and volume in order to recreate just the right feel. This is the true extent of making a cover through analysis. The mixing part alone took me a total of six hours, and its the hardest part of the project. I spent hours tweaking the little details from how the stereo works, the volume of each instrument, the spatial sounds (reverberations), to sound effects to make the cover feel more alive and dynamic. After seeing the result, theyre all really worth it. This project is such a huge leap forward for me that I released a sort of short behind the scenes / making of video of this cover which you can see right here:

This might explain why Ive been inactive for almost 2 weeks...
So yeah, Im staying in Amsterdam Van der Valk Schiphol Hotel for two nights after touring Italy, Switzerland, German, France, and Belgium for the past 10 days. This video is just a quick update of what Ive been doing.
Van der Valk Schiphol Hotel has this baby grand sitting near the receptionist, and the staff kindly let me play, so how could I not? I didnt want to disturb the guests tho, so I played as mellow as I can and was barely applying any power. This was filmed right after checking in and storing all the luggage into the hotel room. I toured Belgium a few hours earlier and I was quite tired. I didnt bring my microphone with me at the time, so Im sorry for the casually crappy audio, the lobby was quite full of people. This is the best quality I can get after tinkering the EQ and audio effects trying to remove the background noise. Anyways heres Zankoku na Tenshi no Teeze, this video is uploaded just about an hour after the performance~

No.7 is the opening theme of the anime Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun), performed by Jibaku Shounen Band which consists of PENGUIN RESEARCH, Masayoshi Ooishi, and ZiNG
The opening theme title reflects Hanako (Yugi Amane) governs over the Seven Mysteries as the School Mystery Number 7.
While my TV size cover of this song follows the opening animations colorful and saturated style, this full version cover aims to follow the style of Jibaku Shounen Bands music video.
I experimented a lot with the color grading and tried many new things along the way. This is by far one of my most favorite intro scene, and the project turns out to be quite a lot better than I initially expected.
The original song is heavily guitar-based, which makes for a quite interesting piano arrangement.
This video is re-upload due to copyright claim in the first 10 seconds so I cant monetize the video at all (yes, the talking noise at the beginning is indeed copyrighted and YouTube detected that). I had to modify it a bit and re-render the video. My apologies for those of you who already left comments and likes in the original video!

This video is a homage to my first anime song piano cover on YouTube. 14th December 2010 marks the day when I first uploaded anime-related piano cover, and the song is Cardcaptor Sakuras 3rd opening, Platinum. Its been my most favorite opening theme of all time, and I can even argue that its the best opening theme ever composed. Heres to the good memories.
How is it the best opening theme ever composed? Transpose. It does so in the most beautiful way anyone can imagine. Theyre so seamless, even I had a hard time differentiating each one. The song doesnt transpose just for the sake of having transpose elements, the transpose is the identity of the song itself, its embodied into the core structure of the song. Thats just brilliant. Its the charm that no other song has. This is the type of song that I can fall in love with the first time I hear it, so if you guys know songs that are similar to this, feel free to tell me in the comments section below. This version alone consists of 6(?) transposes, the most noticeable two are the ones before the transition between the verse and chorus. Ive even lost count on how many transposes are there on the full version. Im out of words to describe just how brilliant and beautiful this song is, just listen.
Cardcaptor Sakura is my first anime. I can still remember watching the show on CRT TV on a local channel with Indonesian dub. After a few years, the show aired on Animax with English dub. Its amazing how you can bring your childhood memories back right at your fingertips. This warm arrangement cover serves as a reminder that the show continues to live inside peoples hearts, even after 18 years. Its still arguably one of the best shows Ive ever watched, its always been on a special place in my heart, and I cant be more grateful for growing up in the late 90s and early 2000s.
This is also my very first piano cover to feature 1080p resolution @ 30 fps on all camera angles.
Fun fact: Sakura Kinomoto is my first crush.

Ever fell in love with a fictional character from anime or any other mediums but then you realize that youre living in the real world and forever cant reach him / her? Then this song is something to relate to. It tells a story about a guy who fell in love with a fictional girl, currently separated by the screen. Theyre so close yet so far away. If he could have one wish in his lifetime, he would wish that he could reach her and live together in the same world, but in the end he realized that he couldnt break reality. In the end, hes simply said Im so glad that I met you. This ultra-relatable and heartbreaking song was written by Marasy himself featuring Hatsune Miku for the vocals. I hope I can get those feelings across through this video. I feel like crying as Im writing this.
This arrangement is heavily based on Marasys piano version of the song, the version featuring Hanatan as the vocalist, and my own style mixed together. This is easily one of the most underrated songs Ive known.
