This is the 39th and last track on A Shape of Light album disk 1 by Kensuke Ushio for Koe no Katachi. This is the longer, much more powerful version of another Koe no Katachi OST simply titled "lit", which is at track #10. This soundtrack went straight up to my top list of OSTs taking the number one spot. It starts mellow, then goes INSANELY powerful, then goes back to slow and mellow with both musical and non-musical sounds. The inclusion of non-musical sounds is what makes the soundtracks in the album really unique.

This is the single most complex project I've done in my life, and nothing before this ever even came close. The project has a total of 52 (yes, fifty two) separate audio and video tracks, consisting of piano sounds from the Roland RP301, other built-in string and synth sounds, and the Yamaha M1 upright piano for the very last part. I filmed and edited this in two cities, I first needed to film and edit in Bandung the day before, then went to Jakarta the next day to film with the Yamaha M1 and resume the editing. I traveled to get access to the Yamaha M1 because the very last part is crucial for the authentic acoustic piano feel and inclusion of non-musical sounds, just like the original song. It's what makes the song sound so alive.

The filming and recording process took me a total of two hours, and the editing process took me a total of ten hours, my longest editing process to date. Everything you see and hear are very, very carefully thought through. Each sound on every single track has distinct effects, reverberation values, and volume in order to recreate just the right feel. This is the true extent of making a cover through analysis. The mixing part alone took me a total of six hours, and it's the hardest part of the project. I spent hours tweaking the little details from how the stereo works, the volume of each instrument, the spatial sounds (reverberations), to sound effects to make the cover feel more alive and dynamic. After seeing the result, they're all really worth it. This project is such a huge leap forward for me that I released a sort of short 'behind the scenes' / 'making of' video of this cover which you can see right here:
